Year 8 Maths Event

Our Year 8 Maths class were pleased to welcome a PhD student from Leeds University, who presented them with maths themed building block tasks.

A challenge was set to build an over-hanging unsupported structure and then identify any mathematical sequencing in the structure and make predictions based on their discoveries.

The pupils really rose to the challenge, and the feedback from the presenter was that he was very impressed with how quickly they spotted the patterns, and also challenged his knowledge of the concepts involved with some searching questions of their own!
