Year 13 celebrate successful results!
It’s been an incredibly positive morning at RTS as our Year 13 students collected their results. This brilliant year group have seen their hard work rewarded with excellent and well-deserved grades, the culmination of 2 years hard graft in the midst of a pandemic!
While it’s always fantastic to see students celebrate their exam results, this year’s cohort deserve particular praise for having coped so well with the extraordinary circumstances they found themselves in. Having had Year 12 severely disrupted by Covid, this resilient group then faced the announcement that exams would not go ahead as planned. Although to some this might sound like a relief, it simply increased the pressure on students to provide evidence of the grades they were capable of through a series of carefully planned assessments, all rigorously moderated and often in collaboration with other schools.
Every single grade has been earned and our students have every right to be proud of their considerable achievements. As always, Year 13 results day is all about the next steps and I’m delighted to see the exciting range of destinations that our students have gained access to. Once again this year, we can report that 100% of applicants to Higher Education have received offers.
A number of outstanding individual performances include Heather Potter who, with 3 A*s, will be studying Natural Sciences at Durham University. Other notable achievements include: Sadie Martin (Mathematics at Liverpool University); Kenya Daley (studying Youth Justice at Nottingham Trent University); Oliver Waters (Computer Science at Leeds University); Hana Lone (University of York to study Adult Nursing); Joseph Edmunds (Indian Hills College, USA on a Football Scholarship); Ella Baird-Rayner (Royal Birmingham Conservatoire); Cameron Atwal (pictured, Physiotherapy at Northumbria University) and Leeds Rhinos Academy player, Mackenzie Turner (also pictured, Sports Marketing at Leeds Trinity University). Just some of our Year 13 superstars!
Congratulations to the students themselves and everyone involved behind the scenes (staff, family, friends). A proud day for everyone associated with these talented young people and Ralph Thoresby School.
