Introduction from Miss Thomas

I am immensely proud to support our Year 12 and Year 13 students at Ralph Thoresby Sixth Form. Our Sixth Form is a place where you will be encouraged to flourish and thrive as a young adult, equipping you with the skills, qualities and confidence needed to succeed in your future destinations.

We offer so much more than a study programme. From links with leading universities, including Oxford and Cambridge, to a wide range of enrichment, social and support opportunities, we are committed to preparing our students for life beyond the classroom. Our Ambassador Scheme gives students the opportunity to take on responsibility, contribute to the wider school community and develop valuable skills beyond the curriculum, including leadership, communication, teamwork and confidence.

We pride ourselves on our personalised approach and the incredible support available to every student from mentors, teaching staff and the wider Sixth Form team. We want every student to feel known, supported and challenged to achieve their potential.

Sixth Form Handbook

Partnership with Lawnswood School

Working in partnership allows us to offer an impressive selection of tailored study programmes, meaning that every student can pursue their interests and prepare themselves for the future.

Across both sites, highly specialised and experienced teaching will provide access to a variety of lessons, that are designed to support outstanding progress across the two academic years. Teachers will stretch every student and provide challenge. Our regular feedback helps students overcome their misconceptions and ensures they meet and exceed the high targets we, as a partnership, set our students.

Each student develops an extended professional network across a joint sixth form of more than 300 leaners. A collaborative approach to learning is enhanced by a wide variety of enrichment opportunities including our ‘Get Set for Sixth Form’ visit to London and study trips including New York City, Brussels and Paris. Students will be given the chance to take on leadership roles to shape our Sixth Form Partnership and will be supported in pursuing extracurricular opportunities on either site.

Working in partnership allows us to offer a unique multi-campus experience, providing students the chance to access state of the art facilities across the two sites.

Partnership with UFCA

Our partnership with The Ulitmate Football Coaching Academy (UFCA) allows us to work in partnership with a prestigious football academy offering a scholarship football programme for those who wish to complete A-Levels/Level 3 subjects alongside football. Located at Boddington sports park, this allows the partnership to combine learning and playing daily. The programme has been rapidly growing over recent years and we now have introduced a womens UFCA programme.

Ultimate Football Coaching Academy was created by professional coaches Steve Hart and Steve Grime, with the mission of developing youth talent across West Yorkshire.

The academy works with players from five to eighteen years old, and are proud to hold an outstanding reputation and track record for producing elite talent – resulting in a number of academy products signing professional deals.
