Theatre Visit

On Wednesday 26th September, the Drama Department took 20 GCSE and A-Level students to Leeds Playhouse to see Jim Cartwright’s critically acclaimed production of ‘Road’.
Set on an unnamed Northern street, the tour guide Scullery stumbled through living rooms, over
cobbles and past lives. Through one raucous night, we met the bold, browbeaten and brave
residents of this forgotten road. First performed in 1987, this seminal play remains as powerful,
resonant and jubilant now as it did then, giving a spirited voice to abandoned Northern communities
in austerity Britain.
