Safer Internet Day 2019

Students at Ralph Thoresby have been spending computing lessons discussing how to make the internet better. This is the key theme of the annual ‘Safer Internet Day’. Engaging conversations regarding the rise of fake news, influencers on social media, data harvesting, hacking the ‘internet of things’ and targeted advertising meant that students reflected on how these could be challenged in order to make the internet a better place.

Mr Gill, Head of Computer Science, commented “It is very important that our students have a handle on an ever changing internet. As they get older, the types of risks online change and it is valuable that they have an awareness of these”
