Ralph Thoresby TCT Through to National Finals at Lords
Ralph Thoresby TCT (Table Cricket Team) claimed the North Midlands regional title, and qualified for the National Final, with a confident display at Headingly Stadium on the 1st of May, remaining on course to win the national championship for the third time.
An unbelievable batting performance saw the team beat their highest ever batting total twice, first in their opening game with a total run score of 297, and again in their final group game scoring 309 runs.
The final saw Thoresby come up against newest rivals St Mary’s Sports College, who claimed victory against the side at last year’s regional tournament, but in the closest game of the day Thoresby came out on top.
One of the players of the day was Year 8 Ali, hitting five 6s and a 4 against Kingsmill School as well as other strong scores throughout the day.
Results:
Group Games:
Oakfield School 205 – 297 Ralph Thoresby
Ralph Thoresby 278 – 202 Brompton Primary School
Ralph Thoresby 309 – 220 Kingsmill School
Final:
St Mary’s Sports College 243 – 286 Ralph Thoresby
The team will now progress to the final round of the National Championships, held at Lords cricket ground on the 7th of June. The side will attempt to retain the title that they won last year and be the first ever non-sports college to win the trophy in back to back years.
