Funk Band Premiere!
Funk performed for the first time in the 2018/19 academic year at the annual Ralph Thoresby Religion, Heritage and Culture evening. The newly formed band builds on the successes of previous years but now features many of our fantastic younger musicians. Currently the band are working on an ambitious 18 minute funk medley, featuring songs such as Superstition, Higher Ground and I wish, by Stevie Wonder; as well as the songs Ain’t nobody and Play That Funky Music.
Our next appearance will be at the Christmas Concert, which takes place on the 19th of December at 18:30.
The band is formed of vocalists Hannah and Meesha; the rhythm section featuring Sam and Joe on percussion/drums, Isaac and Becca on guitar, Alex on Bass, and Annie and Nash on keyboards; and the ‘horn section’ featuring ‘The two Ollies’ on sax, James and Beth on clarinet, and Megan, Cerys and Polly on flutes and violin.
The band recently purchased brand new funk band T-shirts that feature the band’s brand new logo, which you can see in the photos from the RHC evening performance.
If you are interested in joining funk band then speak to Mr Hackshaw or come along to our rehearsal, every Friday from 3pm-4:45pm, in E110.
