ECT and ITT Provision

ECT and ITT Provision

We want to nurture a committed and prepared cohort of teachers who will contribute to the school and enjoy their careers in secondary education.

Like all schools, we have implemented the new training system for Early Career Teachers (ECTs). ECTs study pedagogy online and benefit from weekly observations and feedback from their designated Early Career Framework (ECF) mentor. ECTs also benefit from a department mentor who supports them in their subject area and monitors them against the Teachers Standards. If you join our school as an ECT, you will benefit from a strong package of pedagogical and pastoral support designed to help you navigate your own professional development and the challenges of early career teaching.

We host a number of Red Kite trainees across the year, many of whom go on to work in regional Red Kite schools. These ITTs benefit from an after-school training system that is tailored to their needs and draws upon the insights of experienced members of staff. These training sessions are also open to other members of staff as optional CPD.  We provide our ITTs & ECTs with the opportunity to observe good practice across the school, and we  timetable pastoral drop-in sessions with the ITT & ECT Co-ordinator. If you join our school as a new member staff, you may have the opportunity to mentor an ITT and contribute to their training and CPD after school.
