Ambition and Achievement for All

High Visibility Version

In the schools dedicated Photography studio we encourage you to be imaginative, creative, thoughtful and technical. Students are encouraged to foster their ability to analyse and explore the work of other photographers and artists past and present and using this understanding and knowledge to develop your own style and produce exciting individual photographic outcomes. Students will also develop their subject knowledge in areas such as studio lighting and use industry standard software such as Adobe Photoshop.

Essential camera and studio lighting knowledge and technical understanding will run alongside a ‘traditional’ approach to photography as well as encouraging you to be more experimental with digital photography, using industry standard software such as Adobe Photoshop.

The curriculum projects have been developed to create building blocks of experiences which foster both the practical and theory elements of the Photography.

A camera didn’t make a fantastic picture any more than a typewriter or word processor wrote a great story….”

Y9 Bridging Year

In Year 9 we want to introduce you to the opportunities that using photography as a creative medium can offer. You will be introduced to and gain knowledge and experiences in a wide range of basic camera and photoshop processing techniques. A foundation that will support your work in Year 10 and 11.

You will spend time gaining knowledge and understanding and technical know-how through a series of practical photography assignments where you will also demonstrate and show critical understanding of other photographers’ and artists work.

Looking at the work of others and engaging in practical tasks will help build on your knowledge and understanding of photography as well as helping you find ways to look at the world around you so that you can create work that reveals those environments in new ways.
